Sugar Defender at a Glance
Sugar Defender is a liquid blood sugar supplement sold through ClickBank. Two droppers a day give 1.4 mcg of chromium, less than food provides, and 400 mg of a blend of 22 ingredients, including gymnema, ginseng, maca and guarana. Its label is identical to ZenCortex’s, which the same seller sells for hearing. The amounts are far below those tested for blood sugar, and it is no substitute for diabetes treatment.

What Sugar Defender is
Sugar Defender is a liquid supplement sold for “healthy glucose levels and natural weight loss”, presented by “Tom Green, Creator” under the name Sugar Defender Research. The ClickBank version is sold at sugardefender24.com; a separate version at sugardefender.com is sold through a different retailer, BuyGoods. The directions are two full droppers under the tongue each morning before breakfast, held for 30 seconds before swallowing, or stirred into a glass of water. The label gives a serving as 1 mL with 60 servings a bottle, so at two droppers a day a bottle lasts a month.
If you have diabetes, read this first
Sugar Defender is marketed to people worried about their blood sugar, and its bonus e-book is titled “Learn How to Manage Diabetes”. No supplement replaces diabetes treatment. Do not stop or reduce metformin, insulin or any other diabetes medicine because of it. Feeling better is not a reliable sign that your blood sugar has improved; an HbA1c blood test is. And if you take insulin or a sulfonylurea, ask your doctor before adding anything meant to lower blood sugar, and check your readings.
The same label as ZenCortex
The Supplement Facts label on the Sugar Defender order page is identical to the label of ZenCortex, which the same seller sells as a hearing supplement: the same 22-ingredient blend in the same order, the same 0.7 mcg of chromium, the same 1 mL serving and 60 servings a bottle, and the same water, citrus, stevia and xylitol base. The two also cost the same, have the same 60-day refund rules and send returns to the same warehouse in Aurora, Colorado. One liquid, sold under two names for two unrelated problems, is a reason to doubt that either name means much.
What is in it
Per 1 mL serving, the label lists:
- Chromium (as chromium picolinate): 0.7 mcg, 2% of the Daily Value
- Proprietary Herbal Blend, 200 mg: maca root, grape seed, guarana seed, African mango, eleuthero root, astragalus root, green tea leaf, gymnema leaf, coleus forskohlii root, capsicum (bird pepper), grapefruit seed, Panax ginseng root, raspberry ketones, L-glutamine, L-tyrosine, L-arginine, beta-alanine, monoammonium glycyrrhizinate (a licorice sweetener), GABA, L-ornithine, L-tryptophan and L-carnitine
The other ingredients are deionized water, organic citrus extract, natural flavors, stevia and xylitol. The sales page calls it a blend of “24 proven ingredients”; we count 23 on the label.
The doses
At two droppers a day, you get 1.4 mcg of chromium and 400 mg of the blend, shared by 22 ingredients, about 18 mg each on average. For comparison, adults are advised to get 20 to 35 mcg of chromium a day, which an ordinary diet usually supplies, and the trials of chromium for blood sugar typically used 200 mcg a day or more. The blend’s whole daily amount is smaller than the dose of a single ingredient in most of the trials below.
What the research actually supports
- Chromium: a 2020 meta-analysis of 28 trials in people with type 2 diabetes found lower fasting glucose (by about 19 mg/dL) and HbA1c (by about 0.7 percentage points), but the results varied enormously between trials, and the doses were hundreds of times higher than in Sugar Defender.
- Gymnema: a 2021 meta-analysis of 10 studies with 419 people with type 2 diabetes found lower fasting and after-meal glucose, but it compared people with their own starting values rather than with a placebo, which is a weak test.
- Ginseng: a 2022 meta-analysis of trials in prediabetes and type 2 diabetes found that ginseng lowered fasting glucose somewhat, although the individual trials disagreed; changes in cholesterol appeared at 2 g a day or more.
- L-carnitine: a 2013 meta-analysis of four trials with 284 people with type 2 diabetes found a fall in fasting glucose of about 14 mg/dL.
- African mango: a 2013 systematic review found too few, poorly reported trials to say whether it helps with weight.
- Raspberry ketones: studied almost only in animals and cells; there is no good human trial of raspberry ketones alone.
- Guarana and green tea add small amounts of caffeine. Maca, eleuthero, astragalus and the amino acids have little or no evidence for blood sugar.
The sales page’s reference list is mostly real research on chromium, ginseng and L-carnitine, at doses far above these drops, plus a study of lifestyle change after diagnosis, an article titled “Reversing Type 2 Diabetes and ongoing remission” and a news item about type 1 diabetes research. Remission of type 2 diabetes has been achieved in trials mainly through substantial weight loss, not supplements. No study of Sugar Defender itself is listed.
Side effects and who should check first
- Diabetes medicines: chromium, gymnema, ginseng and L-carnitine are all meant to lower blood sugar. The amounts here are small, but if you take insulin or a sulfonylurea, ask your doctor and watch for low readings.
- Caffeine: guarana and green tea add some caffeine; take that into account if you are sensitive to it.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding, and under-18s: there is no safety information for this combination; avoid it.
- Warning signs: very high readings, excessive thirst and urination, or symptoms of low blood sugar such as shaking, sweating and confusion need medical attention, not a supplement.
Price and packages
There is no single bottle. Two bottles cost $158 ($79 each) plus shipping; three cost $207 ($69 each) and six cost $294 ($49 each), both with free US shipping and two bonus e-books. The crossed-out prices of $179 a bottle are not prices anyone pays. It is a one-time payment, with no subscription. The page says “96% Of Customers Order 6 Bottles” and shows a rating of “4.98/5 based on 2000+ reviews” that we could not verify. Our Sugar Defender buying guide covers where it is sold and shipping outside the US.
How the 60-day refund works
The order page promises a “No Questions Asked 100% Money Back Guarantee”. The return policy adds conditions: the 60 days run from the date of purchase, not delivery; you must email support for a return authorization number (RMA) within that time; and you then have 14 days to post the bottles, at your own cost, to the warehouse in Aurora, Colorado, with the RMA number. The policy also lists cases where only a partial refund is given, apparently from a template for books and software. Because two bottles last 60 days and the seller recommends at least three months, the refund window closes before the course it recommends is finished.
The sales page
The page calls Sugar Defender “The #1 Rated Blood Sugar Formula” and “proven to help support your healthy fat-burning metabolism for perfect blood sugar”. Its FAQ says “we have not received a single complaint yet” and that most people feel a difference after the first week. The FAQ on its contact page talks about “smooth digestion” and taking it “to cleanse, restore and renew your entire system”, wording that looks copied from another product. Apart from a general footer line telling anyone with a medical condition to consult a healthcare provider, it says nothing to people taking diabetes medicines.
Realistic expectations
At these amounts, Sugar Defender is unlikely to make a measurable difference to blood sugar. The changes with the strongest evidence are losing excess weight, regular physical activity, fewer refined carbohydrates and sugary drinks, and the medicines your doctor prescribes; an HbA1c test every few months shows whether they are working. Our blood sugar guide compares the products we review.
🧪 Key Ingredients
What is in the formula, with a short note on each ingredient:
🌿 Chromium
Chromium is a trace mineral that may enhance the action of insulin and might play a role in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It is widely used in supplements to support healthy blood sugar levels and improve body composition.
🌿 Green Tea Extract
Green tea extract is a highly concentrated form of the Camellia sinensis plant, rich in bioactive polyphenols and EGCG. It is a popular supplement studied mainly for weight, cholesterol and blood sugar, with modest results so far.
🌿 Gymnema Sylvestre
Gymnema Sylvestre is a medicinal herb native to tropical forests, used in Ayurvedic medicine to curb sugar cravings and support healthy glucose levels. Often called 'Gurmar,' it has been studied for blood sugar control, although most trials are small.
🌿 L-Carnitine
L-Carnitine is a naturally occurring amino acid derivative that plays a critical role in energy production by transporting fatty acids into your cells' mitochondria. It is popular for exercise, weight management and heart health, but human studies show small or mixed effects.
🌿 Maca Root
Maca root is a plant from the Peruvian Andes that is traditionally used for stamina and libido, and small human studies have looked at its effect on sexual desire. It is a cruciferous vegetable that has been used for centuries as a food and traditional remedy.
🌿 Panax Ginseng
Panax Ginseng, also known as Korean or Asian Ginseng, is a root that has been used in traditional medicine for centuries to restore vitality and balance. Modern research has studied it for possible effects on thinking, fatigue, and physical performance, with mixed results so far.
🌿 African Mango and Raspberry Ketones
Sold for weight loss; the human evidence is poor (African mango) or missing (raspberry ketones).

Frequently Asked Questions
Sugar Defender is a liquid supplement sold for blood sugar and weight loss. The ClickBank version is sold at sugardefender24.com. The directions are two full droppers under the tongue each morning before breakfast.
Per 1 mL: 0.7 mcg of chromium and a 200 mg proprietary blend of 22 ingredients, including maca, grape seed, guarana, African mango, eleuthero, astragalus, green tea, gymnema, coleus, capsicum, ginseng, raspberry ketones and several amino acids. Amounts of the blend ingredients are not given.
The labels are identical: the same 22-ingredient blend in the same order, the same 0.7 mcg of chromium and the same base. Both cost the same, have the same refund rules and send returns to the same warehouse in Aurora, Colorado. ZenCortex is sold for hearing, Sugar Defender for blood sugar.
It has never been tested. Chromium, gymnema, ginseng and L-carnitine have some evidence for blood sugar, but at doses hundreds of times higher than the drops contain. Two droppers give 1.4 mcg of chromium, less than ordinary food provides.
Ask your doctor first. Several ingredients are meant to lower blood sugar, and if you take insulin or a sulfonylurea you should watch for low readings. Do not stop or reduce any diabetes medicine because of a supplement.
The amounts are small, but guarana and green tea add some caffeine, and the blood sugar ingredients could add to diabetes medicines. There is no safety information for pregnancy, breastfeeding or under-18s.
It is a real product sold through ClickBank and shows its label. But that label is identical to a hearing supplement from the same seller, its key ingredients are at token amounts, and its marketing to people with diabetes goes far beyond the evidence.
There is no single bottle. Two bottles cost $158 plus shipping, three cost $207 and six cost $294, both with free US shipping. It is a one-time payment.
You have 60 days from the date of purchase. Email support for a return authorization number, then post the bottles within 14 days, at your own cost, to the warehouse in Aurora, Colorado. ClickBank’s order support at clkbank.com can also help.

See Why Everyone's Choosing This →How we scored Sugar Defender
Five weighted criteria — see our full methodology.
Whether the label discloses how much of each ingredient it contains, rather than hiding amounts inside a proprietary blend.
Whether the finished product has been tested in a published trial, or the claims rest on research into individual ingredients.
Monthly cost on the three-month package, the shortest course most vendors recommend (the single price for one-off digital products), compared against the rest of the category.
Length of the refund window measured against the trial period the vendor itself recommends.
How the product is sold: sales channel, checkout upsells, subscription defaults and how clearly the offer is presented.
A Supplement Facts label is shown, but everything except chromium sits in a 200 mg proprietary blend of 22 ingredients, and the chromium is 0.7 mcg a serving, less than ordinary food provides. The label is identical to ZenCortex’s, which the same seller markets for hearing. Some ingredients, notably chromium, gymnema, ginseng and L-carnitine, have blood sugar trials, but at doses hundreds of times what the drops can supply. Buying experience scores low: the product is sold to people with diabetes as the “#1 Rated Blood Sugar Formula”, with a reference titled “Reversing Type 2 Diabetes”, a bonus e-book on managing diabetes, a claim of not a single complaint, and nothing beyond a general footer disclaimer for people taking diabetes medicines.
Final Verdict
Sugar Defender is sold to people worried about blood sugar, but its label is the same, ingredient for ingredient, as ZenCortex, which the same seller sells for hearing. Two droppers a day give 1.4 mcg of chromium, less than an ordinary diet provides, and 400 mg of a blend shared by 22 ingredients. Chromium, gymnema, ginseng and L-carnitine have some trial evidence for blood sugar, but at doses hundreds of times higher than anything these drops can hold, and the formula itself has never been tested.
If you have diabetes or prediabetes, keep taking the treatment your doctor prescribed, and do not judge any supplement by how you feel; an HbA1c test is what shows a change. If you take insulin or other diabetes medicines, ask your doctor before adding anything meant to lower blood sugar. The 60-day refund runs from the date of purchase and needs a return authorization, so act early if you try it.
